Prayer Guide and Devotional – August 10, 2024
Acts 6:2-3
Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;
It was starting to get busy. Many people were joining the believers in Jesus. As with any business or organization, as it gets larger there develops more tasks and jobs that need to be done. That was happening with the early disciples. They realized if they tried to do multiple jobs it would pull them in too many directions at one time and there would be no time to get out into the highways and the byways, the fields and the fairs, to share the good news of Lord Jesus (add to that Farm Shows, Tractor Shows, FFA Conventions!). So they selected others to handle the other jobs. And look at those qualifications! The main thing the servants of the Lord needed were 1) Good reputation, 2) Full of the Holy Spirit, and 3) Wisdom. Notice missing the things we always look for in job applicants. They knew if they had people with these qualifications, they could handle anything and do so in a Godly manner! Today we need to look at our brothers and sisters in Lord Jesus the same way. If we fulfill these three main requirements we can be used in a mighty way by the Lord. If you are not sure you do, pray to the Lord today to strengthen you in areas of weakness. Pray the Lord to make those areas strengths in you. Ask the Lord to use you as a servant of His today!! The world is still the same after 2000 years!! Lord, I want to be used by You. I want to be a good and faithful servant of Yours. If I am weak in any areas, please strengthen me. Please direct my every step, protect my heart, guide my tongue, and lead me in your ways every day of my life. As each of those Disciples of yours in the early days had roles, please help me to fulfill my role to help reach souls for Your kingdom! In Jesus name, Amen!!! Prayer Requests!
