Greetings to our FCFI Conference Alumni,                                         April 12, 2023

We trust that you are well, and that the Lord has been working in your lives in mighty ways since we last saw you.  We are looking forward to seeing you again in July at our 30th Annual FCFI Conference in Dubuque! The dates for the conference are July 26-28, which is a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We are going on weekdays now because the weekend rates are so much more expensive. Therefore, we can keep the same rates as in previous years at $300 per person. Price includes two nights lodging and six meals. The conference will be held at Best Western Plus in Dubuque, Iowa. (3100 Dodge Street)

Our conference theme is “Holding on to the Faithfulness of God”, Psalm 119:90- “Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You have established the earth, and it stands fast.” Pastor Kevin Cernek, Martintown Community Church and FCFI Chaplain, will be speaking on “What is Your Legacy?” We will have a great program of speakers, workshops, worship times with Scott and Lori Roberts, a concert with Paul Family Bluegrass, devotions will Bill Kuhlmeier, delicious food, and fellowship.  For those who are planning to come early (Monday and/or Tuesday) please let me know as the hotel wants all lodging fees to go through the Fellowship of Christian Farmers so that we submit one check for the week for everybody for every night. In other words, any early night lodging fees will be paid through FCFI and not to the hotel as you check out as in years past. So, when you send in your registration form you will be paying for the total nights lodging, your meals, and any extra activities that we will enjoy on Tuesday and Wednesday before the conference which starts at 5:30 Wednesday evening. I hope all this makes sense!

For those who are coming early, we will get started at 10:00 am, Tuesday 25th at the National Farm Toy Museum, 1110 16th Ave. Ct SE in Dyersville, IA. Journey through two floors full of farm toy implements of a wide selection of brands and explore miniature farm replicas, and much more. Then at 11:30 we will depart for the Field of Dreams, about 5 miles away, at 28995 Lansing Rd. Lunch is on your own (around $12) at their concession stand, called The Stretch, (burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, beverage, popcorn, ice cream) and relax at the shaded picnic tables until it’s time for our first tour at 1:30 which is at the field itself. This tour is called the Ghost Tour and we will be visited by a local dressed up as a White Sox player who will give us a 30–45-minute presentation with time for photos, walk on the field, or play some catch. 😊 The second tour is the Farmhouse Tour at 2:30 and is located on the 1st story of the home where much of the Field of Dreams was filmed. We will depart the Field of Dreams to go back into Dyersville when everyone is ready to go. If there is time before supper, we can visit the beautiful Basilica of St. Francis Xavier, which is close to the Fuse, 224 2nd Ave. NE, where we will have supper (Meatloaf,

herb roasted potatoes, sweet corn, drink, tax, gratuity). Prices are-Farm Toy Museum-$5,

Field of Dreams-$22 (plus lunch on your own), Fuse supper-$19.

For our early arrival activities for Wednesday, the 26th we’ll meet in the lobby no later than 9:00am for the “Trolleys of Dubuque Tour”. For our 90-minute trolley tour of downtown Dubuque we will see Grand Harbor, Brewery, Mill Work District, Courthouse, Elevator, Eagle Point Park & Overlook, Lock & Dam #11. Then after the tour the trolley will take us to the American Lady Yacht Luncheon Cruise between 11:15-11:30. Our cruise will take us down the Mighty Mississippi seeing historic sights. On a typical day, the captain will take us north to Lock and Dam 11 and then turn south and travel to the southern edge of the city where you can see the Julien Dubuque Monument high on a bluff in the Mines of Spain State Park.  From there, we turn north and return to our dock in the Dubuque Yacht Basin. A hot buffet of Roast Beef, Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Corn, and Pasta will be served. “Trolleys of Dubuque” will pick us up after the cruise and take us back to Best Western Plus of Dubuque. Registration packets can be picked up between 3:00-5:00 at the hotel. The conference starts at 5:30 pm in the Mississippi Room.

This letter serves as a “Save the Date” notice. I have included the registration form for your convenience. We hope that you will plan on joining us for at time to update what the Lord is doing through FCFI and a time of worship and renewal. We look forward to seeing you this summer. If you have any questions, let me know.

In Christ’s Love,
