Matthew 5:48
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
I remember receiving a Bible in my younger years and reading this verse. I did not read any further. I thought to myself, this is impossible, no one can be perfect. There is no sense in reading any further, this is an impossible task. No sense in learning any more. I did not understand what the Lord is really saying in this verse. When we each receive Jesus into our hearts and lives for dying on the cross for our sins, we are, at that very moment clean from all those filthy sins that keep us from going to heaven. On our own we can never be perfectly good people. We are only made perfect in God’s eyes by the washing away of our sins by Jesus on the cross. It has nothing to do with us. It is all about Jesus. Have you received Jesus into your heart? Have you taken the time to ask the perfect Spirit of God to be in control your life? If you have received Jesus perfect gift on the cross, then you are perfect (note that is not me saying that, but the Lord Himself – read again the verse above). If you ever watched figure skating or gymnastics in the Olympics, the routines performed were given grades. The score of “10” means it was perfect. Have you been washed by the blood of Jesus? Are those the hands of angels in the picture above giving you a score of 10 showing the Lord you are perfect and can be with the Lord in heaven someday?? Lord, thank You that You have made me perfect. It is not because of anything I have done or ever could do, but because of what Lord Jesus has done for me. Thank You Jesus! Prayer Requests!
