Prayer Guide and Devotional – September 2, 2024
John 3:3-4
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!“
| A leader of the Jews, Nicodemus, comes to Jesus at night. Nicodemus is very interested in all he hears about Jesus. He wants to talk to Jesus in person and learn about Jesus. He wants to get information one can only get by sitting down and having a one-on-one talk with Jesus. Nicodemus tells Jesus nobody can perform the miracles that Jesus is performing if they were not from God. Here Jesus goes right to the problem that Nicodemus needs to understand. Jesus tells Nicodemus that no one can get to heaven unless they are “born again” or born a second time, or born from above. This information stuns Nicodemus. Nicodemus tells Jesus nobody can get back into their mother’s womb and be born a second time. Do not be confused, Nicodemus is a very intelligent man. Jesus even calls him Israel’s teacher (vs 10). Nicodemus was telling Jesus “I do not see how any human can go to heaven because what is necessary is totally impossible”. Even out in the FCFI tent or booth there are people that stop by with this same thought as Nicodemus, can anybody truly know they are going to heaven. Can anybody be perfect as God is to get into heaven? This meeting was extremely important because it is showing a teacher wants to make sure he is teaching his students the absolute truth. Are you searching for the absolute truth about Jesus or are you content listening to all the hearsay of the world? Lord, every Word from You is so important and helps to explain to the world what we need to hear and what we need to understand. And as a Christian, I need to know Your truth so when someone asks me about You, I need to be able to teach them and direct them straight to Lord Jesus. Thank You Lord for teaching and directing us!!
