Prayer Guide and Devotional – September 13, 2024
Luke 19:39-40
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
| The Pharisees were the religious leaders and rulers of the Jews. Everything had to focus on them and go exactly the way they wanted it to. They knew there was something special about Jesus and they wanted to stop it. This was shown when the people were shouting out praises to Jesus and the Pharisees tried to get Jesus to stop them. The Pharisees could not stop them and would not even try. Jesus did not want to stop the people. They were starting to realize the truth that He was sent by God. So Jesus told the Pharisees that if the people did not do the right thing and shout praises out to Jesus, the rocks would raise up and shout out!! Yes, the very creation of God would shout out praises to the Son of God. Jesus followers were seeing His miracles and hearing His words and were acknowledging their King in public! It is always awesome to see people recognize Jesus as God and shout out praises in public. Be like these followers and shout out loud “Praise Jesus!!” I, for one, will not be shouted down by a rock!!Lord, though it is good to be humble and quiet in your presence at times, it is also good to open up and shout out your praises! Help us to break through that feeling of being embarrassed about shouting like a child and sing and dance praises to your Name!! Prayer Requests!
