Prayer Guide and Devotional – September 12, 2025

Hebrews 12:5

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,

and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,

Nobody likes to be disciplined or rebuked. It means we did wrong! But, if we are to be better people we need to be corrected when we do wrongful things. How many times have you seen a child out in public in a full blown tantrum because it did not get what it wants? But that just happens to be what life is like – we do not always get what we want. And the Lord must from time to time discipline and rebuke all us to help us to remain good quality people. If we are to serve and represent Lord Jesus and our Heavenly Father, we must be Holy and righteous at all times. Our behavior as Christians is often a picture of the Lord we are painting for all those around us. If we act as brats that is how the world will view the Lord and Christianity. It is not just that the Lord cannot have that but He will not have that. Try very hard to not place yourself in a position to need the Lord’s rebuke. The Lord does not discipline out of anger but out of love for each of us. But if it would happen to occur, accept it and grow into a better child of God from it!!
Lord, please give all of the world the understanding and strength to realize your discipline and rebuke is for our good and gives us the chances to grow into better people in all aspects of life!
