Prayer Guide and Devotional – November 3, 2024

2 Timothy 1:16-17

The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains; but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me—

Paul had fallen on hard times. He had caught fire by the Spirit of the Lord and had a strong desire to share his love of Lord Jesus with the world. This new found love landed him in prison. The prisons of that time were very dirty and very dark. They were horrendous living conditions. Often when we are alone and not able to get out, whether in prison, in the hospital, or even stuck home alone, it is a tremendous blessing when someone takes time out of their day and their busy schedule, to stop by and visit. It was visits to Paul in prison by Onesiphorus that was so special to Paul that he had to share it. Paul had such a profound effect on the life of Onesiphorus that Onesiphorus was strongly compelled by the Lord to search out where Paul was, even in prison, and spend time with him. We never know when we take the time out of our busy schedules and visit someone, how much it may truly mean to them. That personal interaction with people may seem so simple and like nothing to you, but it could mean the world to those you stop to see. Make time to visit or call someone today that the Lord places on your heart just like He placed Paul on the heart of his friend!
Lord, there is someone out there somewhere that needs to talk or to just be with someone. Use Your people to go out to the prisons, the hospitals, and to the depressed and lonely people wherever they may be to be Your light in their life just as Onesiphorus was to Paul. We love You so very much Lord!! In Jesus name, Amen!!
