Prayer Guide and Devotional – November 18, 2024

Acts 16:25

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them

One thing that everyone loves is music. We may all like different types of songs, but we love to listen to music. Music can change a mood or feelings from bad and down to good and joyful so quick. It has the ability to help us escape for a moment while we listen to those songs we love. Here Paul and Silas were thrown into prison. Prison back then was even worse than what it is like today. Very dark and dirty. And these two were thrown in prison for sharing Jesus Christ with the people. They were beaten and then placed in stocks in a prison cell. You would have thought they would have been so depressed. Life might not have been able to get much worse for them. But they did not sit there feeling sorry for themselves. They sat there unable to move in those stocks and started talking to the Lord and praising God and singing hymns to Him. They were singing songs to God because they loved Him so much! And this strong positive show of love was heard by all the prisoners. They were able to potentially raise the spirits, not only of themselves, but other people as well. You have control over your moods and how you feel. When you are feeling depressed, don’t just sit there. Do like Paul and Silas. Praise the Lord and turn on those awesome songs of praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Watch how fast your mood goes from being depressed to extremely happy and joyful instantly!!Lord, I think everyone can get down so easy. And what happens to them, some doctor prescribes pills for them. Lord, maybe they don’t need medication but to start praying to You, start praising You out loud, and to crank up the songs of worship to You. Depression comes from satan but happiness and joy come from You, Lord! Let Your songs of worship always be in my mind and in my heart. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
