Prayer Guide and Devotional

Deuteronomy 24:6
“Do not take a pair of grindstones or even the upper millstone as security for a debt, because that is like taking a life as security.
The Lord really does love us and takes good care of us. And this is not just recently. Back during the Old Testament times it was customary to have to borrow from others. During that time the Lord actually directed the people that they were NOT allowed to take someones grinding stones, or even just one stone, as collateral for what was borrowed. It was custom for people to grind the grain they would need for that day during that day. Then they would use the grain ground that day to make that days meals with it. The Lord knew, without grinding stones, or even having just one stone, would hinder a person or a family’s ability to eat and live. The Lord was guaranteeing the people would have the needed implements to provide their meals each day. Isn’t it so awesome to see the Lord protecting and taking care of people no matter what the day or age!!
Lord, when we take time to read Your Word we realize just how loving and caring You are. That You would create a law prohibiting certain things from being taken from some person or family that would hinder their ability to survive is so fantastic. It is common for people to want anything of value as collateral because the more value something has the quicker the borrower would be at repaying. You block the evil hearts of man from taking advantage of the poor. Thank You Lord! In Jesus Name, Amen!!
