Prayer Guide and Devotional
Matthew 19:13-14
Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
The disciples of Jesus thought nothing of the children. Their thoughts were only on adults. The disciples even rebuked the parents because they wanted their children to meet the Lord. But the parents wanted their children to be blessed by Jesus as much as themselves. Jesus was very loving of all mankind and was very willing to see, interact, and bless the little ones. In fact, Jesus directive to His disciples was to never prevent the parents from bringing their children to meet Jesus and have Him put His hands on them (bless them). Jesus reminded His disciples that the children are as much a part of the kingdom of God as adults are. It is a good reminder that we all should be as quick to respond to the call of our heavenly Father as earthly children are to respond to the call of their biological fathers! We often will put restrictions on how old a child must be to receive Jesus into their hearts and lives when all God asks is that we love Him and want to be part of His family and to share that with the children.
Lord, I know Your heavenly kingdom is for all those that love You and receive You. You never put an age limit on the children regarding how old they must be to receive You into their hearts and lives. Us humans seem to put all these rules and restrictions on things and we often do so in Your name. Forgive us Lord for interfering in Your work and help us to love each other regardless of age, race, or color. I love You Lord!! In Jesus Name, Amen!!
