Matthew 5:39
But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.
When people read this Bible verse they can get a little confused. Is Jesus really telling us to be so meek that we are to turn the other cheek when assaulted and let the person assaulting us to continue? What Jesus is telling us is that we are to show total control over our emotions. At the point we are struck, we would most likely strike back and in a way so strong as to render the fight over. Jesus tells us to just “hang up the gloves” and not fall into satan’s trap of getting you to let your emotions rule you so strong we strike back with a vengeance. Pray for the strength of God that every difficult situation you get into you can make a rational decision and not get lured into do the wrong thing and getting yourself in trouble.
Lord, thank You for helping me to hang up the gloves. I want to be more like you and not allow my emotions to rule over me. Lord Jesus I desire that only You rule over me! Thank you Jesus for helping me in every part of my life to be more like You. In Jesus Name, Amen!!
