Galatians 5:1
Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm in this freedom, and don’t become slaves again.
| On July 4th every year families and friends gather all over the United States celebrating our country’s freedom obtained by winning the Revolutionary War. Our country defeated Great Britain and became a free nation. Our Founding Fathers solidified our freedoms by creating the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution giving our citizens the freedom of religion, the freedom to gather, and freedom of speech to name just a few. But the real freedom each of us can obtain is the freedoms given to each of us by our awesome God when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, down to earth to die on the cross and wash away our sins with His blood. Jesus arose from the dead opening the door for each of us to go to heaven some day when we are done on this earth. But Jesus death on the cross provides all of us with so much more. Jesus provided us all with a freedom away from sin and spending an eternity in hell. We were set free from the bondage of sin when we received Jesus, personally, into our hearts and lives. But we must still each resist the temptations of sin that will continue to come into our lives. We cannot allow ourselves to fall back into sinful habits and give up our amazing freedom from God. As God tells us, be firm in our new freedom from sin we have received from Lord Jesus, and do not become slaves from the sinful life we left behind when we were saved by Jesus blood. Pray that all Christians will realize the amazing freedom we have when we have Jesus Christ in our hearts and lives.
