Prayer Guide and Devotional

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

The Wordless Bible – The Red Bead
The entire reason that Jesus came down to earth from His home in heaven was to die on the cross and pay for the sins of all mankind. God needed someone perfect to take the punishment for the sin’s (Black bead) of the world. Without this payment for our sins nobody can go to heaven (Gold bead). There was only one perfect person that could take the punishment for the world, and that perfect one is God’s Son Jesus. In generations before (as described in the Old Testament) the Chief Priests of Israel would choose an unblemished lamb that they would sacrifice to atone (cover up) for the people’s sins. The Priest would have the elders of the tribes lay their hands on the lamb as if they were transferring all the sins from that year to the precious perfect lamb. Then, they would kill the lamb. But they were only covering over their sins and not completely removing them.  Jesus was our “Perfect Precious Lamb.” Jesus shed His blood (Red bead) to take our sins away. Without the shedding of the blood of Jesus there is no way for any of us to get to heaven. The atonement by the Priest was only covering up the sins and not getting rid of them. God used Jesus as the perfect Lamb sacrifice that would take away our sins forever! The Red bead stands for Jesus blood! While discussing the black bead (sin) yesterday we mentioned that living a sinful life was compared to living life in the dark. A place where people often do not see they are sinning or frankly they just do not care. Here is a Bible verse confirming that stating by being sin free we are Walking in the light and have fellowship or a relationship with every other member of God’s family and with our Lord Jesus. Thank you Jesus for your shed blood!
