Prayer Guide and Devotional – January 9, 2025
Matthew 4:19-20
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
| What was it that compelled the fishermen to drop their nets and follow Jesus? Remember, these were not shoe salesmen, bus drivers, or gas station attendants out fishing for fun and relaxation! Fishing was how they put food on the table and paid their bills. For them to just drop their nets showed the power of the Holy Spirit calling them. At that point they had just met Jesus and knew nothing about Him. It is not as if they had attended several of the times Jesus spoke to the crowds. Upon that first meeting and a call from Jesus, BOOM! They dropped their nets and followed Jesus. These men went on to watch all of Jesus miracles and hear the amazing messages Jesus delivered to the people. They followed Him everywhere He went and learned from the Master. They dropped their nets, learned from Jesus, and delivered the salvation message of the cross to the world. They became, fishers of men!! Do you think they even thought this was what they were getting into? Have you dropped your nets to follow Jesus? Have you told Jesus He is your Lord, Master, and Savior and devoted your life to Him? Drop your nets today and come follow Jesus!!! Lord, what a powerful thought that those men would just walk away from their lively hood to prepare to bring God’s salvation message to the world. Give me the power of Your Holy Spirit so I can walk away when You call and not have any fears or concerns and never look back. When You call Lord I know You have my entire life in Your hands. Lord, how can I serve You today? Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!! Prayer Requests! Please, pray for the mental stability of our farmers. We are living in tough times to be a farmer. Many are depressed as they look toward the future of farming. Many need to get out and yet looking for a glimmer of hope to stay in farming.
