Prayer Guide and Devotional
Isaiah 55:8-9
The Lord says, “My thoughts are not like your thoughts.
Your ways are not like my ways.
Just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
We often think our thoughts and our ways are the best. In fact we often confront people with each side claiming they are correct and their ways are the only right way. We often cannot even agree with each other. The Lord tells us that His ways and thoughts are higher and better than ours. Jesus sees our whole life and the life of each person on earth. He has plans and purposes created for each of us. The Lord created the entire universe and our huge and very intricate world. We can only see a very small piece of His creation. How and why should we ever think we are more important than or greater than God? Look up at the heavens and consider how vast and wonderful they are! And we are just a tiny speck in it all. We are limited by our view from our single place on the earth, but the Lord has no limits! We need to understand and believe just how great the Lord is and not think too haughty of ourselves. The Lord has always been and since the very beginning of our world He has had all things in control. When we develop a closer relationship with the Lord God we understand our place much better. Look again at the heavens and thank the Lord for the plans He has for You. His plans and thoughts and ways are far better than what You and I could ever imagine.
Lord, thank You for having a better way for me. Thank You for being in control of our great big world and help me to look to You and Your ways and not insist on what I think and feel as being always right. Though I may be right sometimes, You are right ALL the time! And though I often do not understand what is happening in the world around me, I know You are in control and I need to keep my eyes on You. I Thank You Lord! In Jesus Name, Amen!!
