Daniel 3:24-25
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
King Nebuchadnezzar was the king of the land and when his laws were not followed the penalty was death. The King built an image and demanded that everyone should bow to it and worship it. Those that refuse would be thrown in a blazing fire. Three young Hebrew men of God, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refused to bow and worship the King’s idol. So the King threw these three young men into a fiery furnace. This fire was meant to consume the three men. But, something very extraordinary happened. The three men were not consumed, and even more miraculously, the King saw a fourth man in the fire! This fire was meant to kill these three men, but the Lord had a different plan. At this point King Nebuchadnezzar did not know who Jesus was. That is why he proclaimed, the fourth is like the Son of God. Even men who do not know Jesus, they recognize Him as being God when they see Him. Jesus has so much power and love for us, He not only spared these three men from a fiery death, but was literally in the fire with them! Just as the Lord was with these three men in the fire, Jesus is always standing there with us!
Lord, You love me so much that You stand with me even in the midst of the hardest times. You have so much power that nothing is too difficult for You to withstand. Just as these three men came out of the fire, unharmed, You bring me through the hardest times. Thank You Lord for loving me so much that You are always there, standing with me. Help others around me to see You as well, standing with me. Open their eyes to Your awesome power and love. In Jesus name, Amen!!
