Prayer Guide and Devotional – February 2, 2026

1 Samuel 3:9

And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

Young Samuel was lying in bed and he heard his name called. He went to see what his master, Eli, desired. This happened several times. Finally, Eli tells Samuel, when he hears this again to say “Speak Lord!” Even today this is a problem. The Lord might be calling us but our ears are out of tune for the Lord’s voice. The Lord calls us and we do not recognize it. The Lord calls out to us and we go to someone near us thinking they were the ones calling out our name. We need to go back to what we were doing when we heard the call. Go back to work, go back to prayer, go back to reading your Bible or devotions, or just go lie down! When you hear your name called, do like Samuel and say “Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening.” Have you noticed that some people will talk and talk and never stop to listen to what the other person has to say? Don’t do that to the Lord! After we respond we are to be quiet and allow the Lord to communicate with us. Sit peaceful and quiet and allow the Lord His time to talk to you. Go ahead. We sit quietly listening to the Pastor in church. Shouldn’t we do the same for the Lord? You are going to love this time spent listening to God!!
Lord, I sit quietly waiting for You, I want to hear Your voice and direction. Help the distractions that are around me to fade away so that I only hear Your voice. I want to recognize Your voice when You call to me. Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!

The church we attend, Hope Valley Community Church in Red Hill Pa, has taken on an assignment to help a farmer whose farm goes all the way back to William Penn and being sold to a Mennonite family, the Gehman family. It would be sold in the 1950’s to a family that was an Agnostic family. It fell into great disrepair and the son, who still owned it, was in bad health. God moved on Pastor Peter to help him and before he died, we were able to lead him to the Lord and to begin a restoration of the farm. Robert gave the farm to the church to become a rescue haven for the lost, but the farm was in great debt. God moved on a group of business men to pay the over due debt as a 90 day bridge loan to get it out of foreclosure but now we are again at the wall of figuring out what to do with the farm. Would you pray with us about this farm that the Lord would give direction to know what to do. Please Pray for our church, Pastor Peter, and wisdom for the future. Thank you for your prayers! Tedd and JoAnn
