Even if one of them mistreats you seven times in one day and says, “I am sorry,” you should still forgive that person.
| One of my favorite movie actors is John Wayne. In one of his movies, “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon”, John Wayne tells a young cavalry officer, never apologize, it is a sign of weakness. You can tell the screen writer for this movie did not understand what true strength really is. One of the hardest things for all people to do is to go to someone they have offended and tell them they are sorry for hurting them. Many people will avoid family and friends for years due to the hurt incurred from not apologizing. Quite different from what is stated in the movie, apologizing is a sign of great strength. It takes a strong person to go up to another person and admit they were wrong, admit they hurt them, and tell them you are so sorry for what you did. If apologizing was a weakness, people would be quicker to do so. The Lord explicitly directs us to apologize. The Lord knows that we must humble ourselves in many things we do throughout life. And this is one big way to adhere to the Lord’s directives. And when we apologize, so often the one that gets the most healing out of those three little words, is the person that is doing the apologizing. It is a shame that the Lord has to tell us to do something we know is right but we try hard to avoid doing. Lord, I know it can be so hard to go to someone I have offended and apologize. So Lord, give me Your strength to approach those I have offended and apologize for my words or my actions. Help me be the one to initiate the healing between myself and others. I want to be strong enough to show Your love to the world. You are an awesome God and I know all Your ways are right. Make this a healing moment between the other person and myself and between my God and myself! Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!! Prayer Requests!
