Luke 2:8-11
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
| Isn’t this a wonderful day! Christmas Eve 2024. Remember yesterday’s FCFI Daily Devotional, the Lord was making sure the information was going out to those the Lord knew should hear. When Jesus was born onto the earth, the Lord sent His messengers to announce to shepherd’s relaxing in their fields, keeping an eye on their sheep, the birth of the world’s Savior. The Lord could have sent His angels to announce the arrival of the Christ or Messiah to Kings, Magi, rich people, people high up in the business world, or any people with high social standing. But the Lord chose to announce the coming of the Christ to lowly shepherds. The announcement of this amazing event was sent to shepherds, the average person, to those like you and me. Jesus was sent to save the world from their sins and the Lord wanted everyday people to know “This means you, too!” by coming first to the shepherds. The Lord does not pay attention to social standing. He sees each and everyone of us on the same level. And so the Lord gloriously announced the birth of Jesus and even where He lay (the City of David – Bethlehem) so the shepherds could seek out and worship the world’s Savior in person!! Lord, thank You for sending down Your Son, Lord Jesus, to wash away my sins on the cross. Thank You for loving me so much, You died for me. Thank You Lord for sharing with me the details of my Savior’s birth. I pray the entire world would bow their knee to Lord Jesus right now and receive Him into their hearts and lives! Thank You Lord!
