Prayer Guide and Devotional – December 16, 2024
Luke 1:32-33
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
| The virgin Mary was told by an angel sent by God, Gabriel, that she was going to have a baby. The Holy Spirit was to come over her (place the Christ baby inside of her) and this child from God was going to be known as the Son of God. That in itself would have been amazingly powerful news. But, there was more! This child which Mary will give birth to would be great and called the Son of the Most High. The Lord was giving this child the throne of King David and He would rule over Jacob’s descendants forever (Israel). Jesus kingdom would be forever and have no end. This was astounding to hear. But, at that point Mary is only being told about Jesus reign over the Jews. She was told He would reign over Jacob’s descendants. She does not know the salvation of the world about to happen. The Messiah is about to be born!! Lord, You are absolutely amazing! To visit directly to Mary and explain to her and You did so in a way as not to scare her and let her know what You were about to do. Thank You for allowing the world to hear exactly what happened so we can join in praising You for Your love of all the world. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!! Prayer Requests! Please pray for our farmers as they come to the end of the year. That they have had a successful year and will be able to pay their bills and farm again another year.
