Luke 1:36-37
Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”
| It was extremely disappointing for a lady back in those days to be known as barren (have no children). And Elizabeth was known as barren. The angel of the Lord, though Mary did not ask for a sign, presented Mary with the sign from the Lord. As proof that this was an angel and that the Lord was in control, Mary was told how her relative, past child bearing years and known as barren, was now pregnant as well. Not only was Elizabeth carrying her first child, but the angel announced to Mary that Elizabeth was now in her sixth month of pregnancy. Information only a messenger from the Lord would know. This was Mary’s sign that the wonderful message she had just heard about her own pregnancy to bear the son of the God without knowing a man, was both the truth and given to her directly from the Lord!! Lord, this is both amazing and wonderful to think. How You would notify Mary of the blessing of her child’s birth and to help her to understand this child was from You, the sign of her relative was given her. You did not want this young lady rejecting this wonderful responsibility. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!! Prayer Requests! Please pray for James’ son.
