1 Timothy 2:8
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
Let’s see now. Men will lift their hands to: Hail a cab, when someone says “who lost this $20”, in celebrating their favorite sports team, when the boss says “who wants to go home early”, or when confronted by a man in a ski mask with a gun. But, for some reason, it can be so hard for many to raise their hands in prayer and worship to the God that created them. Paul desires with all his heart that all people would take the time to lift up their hands when talking to the Lord showing He is the almighty and wonderful King and Creator of things seen and unseen. We should be talking to God daily (some call that praying). But, lifting up your hands shows you understand God’s mighty position. And when you do come to the Lord with hands lifted high, have no doubts the Lord is listening and enjoys your communication. And do not come to the Lord with bitterness in your heart. It will just be a cement wall between you and the Lord. Don’t ask the Lord to strike down the cab that passed you by, the real owner of the $20, the other team, those chosen to go home early, or the guy with the ski mask. Your request for wrath upon another or when you doubt ruins the entire conversation you are having with the Lord!! Where are you right now? In your house, in your shop, in your car or truck, or out in the fields? Go ahead and lift up your arms right now and shout out “Praise Jesus!! Start a great conversation with the Lord. Go ahead, He is listening!! Prayer Requests!
