1 Timothy 5:1
Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,
I heard an old African saying is “When an old person dies, a library is lost.” Senior citizens in the world today have witnessed and experienced so much. And with that experience comes wisdom. Wisdom that can help people avoid the pitfalls of this world. As both individuals and as groups as large as countries, this wisdom can help avoid problems that cause all sorts of problems. Problems such as financial, marital, friendships, work related, automobile related, and so on. And this especially pertains to senior men that are Christians. For years they have worked at handling all issues of life following the commandments of the Lord. Sometime when someone older is talking, just sit back and listen and you may find the Lord has blessed them with very good wisdom. And do not forget the young men of this world. They are tomorrows leaders and problem solvers. Encourage the young men in the Christian community because they will be tasked with dealing with this world tomorrow. Whether that senior man is your father or not, and whether that young man is your brother or son or not, listen to them and encourage them in the ways of the Lord. Do not look upon the elderly men of this world as an inconvenience but rather as someone who has lived life to the fullest and may have some good Godly wisdom to share. And, likewise, encourage all the Christian young men you meet as they are tomorrow’s leaders and need all the support they can get. Prayer Requests!
