Acts 1:4-5
On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
| The Book of Acts is an amazing part of the Bible. These were the very first followers of Lord Jesus given the tremendous responsibility of taking the salvation message of Lord Jesus Christ to the entire world. As a small group they would share the message of Jesus life, death, and resurrection from the dead to pay for the sins of the world, to the world. And they could not just open their Bibles and point out the various Old Testament verses proclaiming the Messiah was coming. The Bible was not created yet because these men and women were the Bible! What really stands out is the obedience they had to Lord Jesus. He gave them the command to stay in Jerusalem and wait. Just wait! God was going to send His Spirit down and His Spirit would become such an intricate part of their lives. This part, they did not fully understand. All they knew was to gather and wait. Thank the Lord they were obedient to the Lord. Without their obedience and patience we would not have the comfort and peace today knowing our eternity is secure because Lord Jesus brought God’s love to our world. They thought Jesus was just preaching to the masses all those days out in the fields. No, Jesus was training His Disciples just for this day. Lord, I pray You give me the patience and obedience towards You as these first Christians had. I have Your Word and I am tremendously blessed to have the Holy Spirit as Your guide living within me and helping me live life according to Your direction. Taking Jesus message of Love to the world, His salvation message, is not finished yet. It is not time to sit back and relax. The message needs to continue reaching souls.
