Prayer Guide and Devotional – April 19, 2025

Isaiah 53:5

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah was a Prophet of the Lord. A Prophet carried messages from the Lord to the people. Isaiah was telling the people of Israel about the Lord’s salvation plan for the people. This was not a spur of the moment thing the Lord thought of to save mankind. This was planned from the very beginning. As soon as sin entered the world, the fate of mankind was sealed to spend eternity in hell and away from the light and love of God. The Lord told us hundreds of years before Jesus went to the cross that salvation would be coming and how it would go down. Jesus’ horrible death was the only way man could be made right with God as OUR substitution, with taking the punishment for our transgressions. The Lord even describes how Jesus was crushed as payment for our sins. There could not have been a heavier load than that of the weight of the sins of the world bore by Jesus on the cross. Only true spiritual, mental, and physical healing comes by the cross Jesus was crucified on outside of town on Calvary’s hill. The Old Testament prophets, through the Holy Spirit, were declaring God’s judgement on man and telling everyone God’s redemption was coming. God was declaring through His prophets that the world’s healing was coming and God even told us how.
Lord, we pray that as we read the Old testament we realize how through the ages You were speaking out to all mankind and that we all understand that our salvation was in Your heart and in Your thoughts long before Jesus paid for our sins with His death on the cross. In Jesus name, amen!!
