Matthew 7:9

Or what person is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone?

Anyone looking at this Bible verse thinks it is crazy. Who would give their son a stone when he is hungry. But, we must look a little closer. First, it is someone we love. It is not speaking of a stranger at this moment but a family member. Yes, our family members can sometimes be a little odd, but we love them just the same. Then we must realize they are asking for something good. What would stop us from giving bread to a hungry son? Why might we give him a stone? We might be able to see by looking at the evidence right before our eyes! It must depend on the attitude of the one making the request! Are we difficult with people, are we nasty, do we owe someone and refuse to pay it back, do we lack forgiveness towards others, are we not living life as a son or daughter of God should? These are all things that we should have no part of since we are children of the Lord. Do we carry these attitudes while expecting the Lord to bless us? We must make sure we have a loving and close relationship with God. We must talk to the Lord in prayer on a regular basis. Yes, our sins have been forgiven by Jesus blood on the cross, but it shows the Lord you love Him when you realize you still may hurt others occasionally and you ask the Lord’s forgiveness. Our actions and attitudes can hinder our close walk with God. Be sons and daughters that the Lord is excited to give daily bread!!

Lord, I thank You for Your love, protection, and blessings everyday. Help me to be the best child of Yours that I can be. I want to be a blessing to others and share my blessings with others. Eliminate any walls that would stop me from getting closer to You and Jesus everyday. Help my prayer life to get stronger and help me be a good representative for You in my daily life. In Jesus name, Amen!!
