Prayer Guide and Devotional – August 31, 2023

Acts 27:37

And in all we were two hundred and seventy-six persons on the ship.

Acts thru August

Today concludes Acts through August. We wanted everyone to see and understand what our Christian Fore Fathers went through. They had no Bible to open and confirm the Lord’s Word. They were struggling through trial and error and taught the salvation message of Lord Jesus Christ everywhere they went. Today’s verse was chosen so you can take notice to Luke’s writing. Often throughout Acts when he writes of Paul he wrote in the third person (First Personit was you who experienced it, Second Person you were an eyewitness, Third Person someone that witnessed it told you). There were times throughout Acts like right here that Luke states “we”. Luke was along with Paul on this disastrous cruise! Sometimes Luke was with Paul and sometimes he was not. There are so many awesome little details we miss when reading the Bible because we are in a hurry or distracted. Take time to read the Bible slowly and thoroughly. You will get so much more out of it. Read a verse several times to let it really soak in what the Lord is telling you at that moment. And before you even start reading, take a moment and talk to God in prayer. Ask Him to reveal some of His amazing truths to you when you read. The Bible is a blessing and can be very fun to read. Don’t look at it as a daily chore you must get done like the dishes in the sink and cleaning the bathroom. God bless!!

Lord, thank You for the blessing of hearing what our early Spiritual family members went through in taking Jesus death and resurrection to the world. To hear of their struggles and their success helps us realize what they went through. I know I will have highs and lows in living my life for You. Help me to learn from these early family members and understand how we have various things in common. Help me to make a difference in this world! In Jesus name, Amen!!
