Prayer Guide and Devotional – August 30, 2023
Acts 27:21-25
then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.
Acts thru August
Paul was being taken a a prisoner to Rome. His guard had him on a ship as their means of travel to get to Rome. Paul had a feeling weather was going to destroy the ship. So he urged the captain of the ship to delay the voyage for a while. The captain refused and continued on. Now, the ship was in the midst of a severe storm. Paul reminds them of his warning. But Paul was blessed by the Lord. God sent an Angel to tell Paul things would be okay. Paul relays this message to the captain of the ship and the crew. From the very first person that accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, the Lord placed His Holy Spirit into them as a guide. The Holy Spirit does not force us to make the right decision. That is still our job. The Holy Spirit will urge us to make a decision in a certain way. Paul had this guiding of the Holy Spirit and, though the captain did not heed Paul’s advice, Paul followed the lead of the Holy Spirit and spoke up. We have that same Holy Spirit in us today! We will be guided or led by the Holy Spirit to make decisions in a certain way. If we follow the lead of the Holy Spirit, we will be walking in the Lord’s will. We may think the decision wrong or even the unpopular decision, but when we adhere to the Holy Spirit, we are truly one with God!
Lord, I ask that Your Spirit guide me every moment of every day of my life. Give me the wisdom to adhere to this leading by the Holy Spirit and the courage to make all my decisions according to Your will and desires. I do not always understand what the decisions may lead to. But with Your Spirit leading me, I know only the best will be the outcome. In Jesus name, Amen!!
