While the man was holding on to Peter and John, all the people were amazed and ran to them at Solomon’s Porch. When Peter saw this, he said to them, “People of Israel, why are you surprised? You are looking at us as if it were our own power or goodness that made this man walk.

There are times out in the FCFI tent where I hear people say they should be sharing their testimony of what the Lord has done for them. There are times when this may be good. But the biggest thing we can do was taught to us right here in Acts! When Peter and John called on the Lord to heal the lame man, the people all gathered around them wanting to give the power and the claim of the healing on them. Instantly, Peter says it was not them. He tells them it was Jesus that healed the man. Peter says nothing of himself. He could go on how he was there from the start at Jesus side. How he was present for so many teachings and miracles by Jesus. But Peter speaks only of Jesus! Recently while we were in the FCFI tent at the Troy Fair in Troy, Pa. my wife says “In 20 years I have never shared anything about my testimony.” I agreed to the same thing for me for 23 years. We cannot change lives. We cannot heal anyone. And we certainly cannot save souls. But we can introduce them to the one who can. We do exactly like we were taught by the very first Christians, we share Jesus death and resurrection as payment for the sins of the world. There may be a time to share your testimony. Maybe you have something in common with them that will let them know you are just like them and understand where they come from. But let the bulk of your witnessing be sharing Jesus testimony. Jesus taught the first Christians how to evangelize and they still teach us today!!
Lord, thank You for the writings of the Acts of Lord Jesus disciples. What they did 2000 years ago is still so relevant today. We can learn from them how to share Jesus Christ with the world. Help me to always place the entire focus on You and Lord Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to touch hearts and lives. I know a good evangelist will be heard but not seen. They must think of and remember You and not me.
