Prayer Guide and Devotional

Prayer Guide and Devotional – August 3, 2023

Acts 1:12-14

Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Acts thru August

For the early Disciples of Lord Jesus, prayer was of the utmost importance. They all gathered back at their room and went into prayer. They had no idea of the extent that God was going to use them. All they knew was, they had to come to the Lord in constant prayer asking for His guidance for this great responsibility. We all can take a lesson from these men and women. Prayer is very important. When you are praying you are talking directly to God. You are strengthening your relationship with the Lord. From the prayer of the Lord’s Disciples they received the strength to carry the Lord’s salvation message to the world. They received the guidance needed as their was no book or policy and procedures manual on how to accomplish this. They were focusing all their attention on God and cementing their relationship with Him. Go to prayer right now. Ask the Lord for exactly what He gave them.

Lord, our first brothers and sisters in Lord Jesus knew to just go directly to You in prayer. They knew the most important thing was to establish a strong relationship and bond with You. I ask that You give me that same strong bond with You that they had. Let nothing get in the way of my bond with You. Help me to accomplish all You want me to in my life. In Jesus name, Amen!!
