Prayer Guide and Devotional – July 14, 2023
Psalm 37:8
Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.
In the current climate we live in there seems to be much to fret (worry) about. Will we be able to pay for our needs with the continued increases in prices? Will our country continue on or be swallowed up in the madness of political struggle? How do we defeat fretting or worrying? By putting our trust in the Lord! Trusting in the Lord does not depend on external circumstances, but rather on our relationship with Him. When we fret about these things we are showing the world and the Lord that we do not trust God enough as a loving Father to take care of His children. Fretting shows that we are not focused on God and not trusting in Jesus. Evil springs up when we are not depending on Jesus. That is when sin is ready to take over because our focus is on ourselves and not Him.
Pray that we will not fret even when our external circumstances seem to indicate that things are out of control. Pray that we will Trust in Jesus at all times.
Are you as the child above and fretful? Put your Trust in the Lord and do not fret!
