Malachi 1:1-2
The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.
“I have loved you,” says the Lord.
“Yet you say, ‘In what way have You loved us?’
Who would ever think that the Lord would describe His love for us as a burden. And notice, that burden is the Lord’s and not ours. Why does He consider this love for us as a burden? Here He speaks to the Hebrew people. He loved them so much. And one of the main ways for them to show that love back, was to honor the statutes the Lord has set in place for the Hebrews to follow. Statutes such as the various sacrifices. The Hebrews would ask, “How have You loved us?” Their hearts and eyes became numb to the Lord like stone. They started defiling their sacrifices to the Lord. The Lord’s love was a burden for the Hebrews because He loved them so much and yet they still profaned and dirtied their show of love back with lame and blind animals for sacrifice instead of perfect animals. The Priests that led the people led the people into this state of complacency of the Lord. The Lord has such a strong love for every single one of us. A love He shows to us everyday and in various ways. Do you see His love? Do you see His beautiful earth with the mountains and the rivers and the flowers? Do you see the beautiful sunny days and the relaxing rain showers? Do you see His His love for YOU by providing for your needs, by providing a home, food, clothing, and many wonderful things to enjoy? Let’s not make the Lord feel like His love for us is a burden on our shoulders! He shows us His love every day! And let’s show that love right back to Him, every day!!
Lord, I do not want Your love for me to feel like a burden. Like I do not care for You and do not notice the wonderful way You take care of me. I do see the amazing way You love me and take care of me. Help me to show that love back to You and share Your love for me with the world. I want to place a huge smile on Your face and not a frown. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
