Prayer Guide and Devotional

1 Corinthians 2:2

For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

Paul was speaking to the people. He is reminding them of when he first came to them, who he spoke of. Paul spoke only of Jesus and His crucifixion on the cross for the sins of the world. Paul did not go into himself and speak about how great he is for having the call of God on him. He did not speak of his past high social standing within the Pharisees community. He did not speak about his amazing transformation from a hated Christian killer to being a Christian himself. He spoke only on Jesus. When it comes down to it, who is the only one that can change lives? Jesus is the only one that can change another person’s life from one of fear and depression and addiction to one of compassion and love and joy and peace. Paul knew this. And we MUST know this as well. No amount of long winded or fancy speaking about ourselves will lead a person to a life with our Savior. But, if we can help them get Jesus into their hearts and lives, we have done our part to help them change their lives around (repent) from the destructive trail they are on to an eternity in heaven with the Lord!! Go ahead and tell them about Jesus life saving death and resurrection. Jesus shed His blood for us. Not the other way around.

Lord, I want others to know Your love when I speak. I want to speak of Your love for us when You died on the cross and shed Your blood for us. You died for us, that is how we know how much God has full love for me and for all the world. So much love that You died for me and all of us, crucified on a cruel cross. Thank You Lord for dying for us and shedding Your blood for us, each one of us! Help me to share Your love and to tell others that You died for them too and not to speak of myself. I desire to speak only of you Lord Jesus and You crucified for us. In Jesus name, Amen
