Prayer Guide and Devotional – February 4, 2024

Luke 4:1-2

Now Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry.

So many times people will look at how difficult their life is at that moment and think “Jesus does not understand what I am going through!” That is the absolute amazing thing about our God, He DOES understand your problems! Jesus was born by a woman into our world. He was infant, toddler, child, teen, and adult. He has experienced all a human does while still retaining His Godly being. In these verses we are reminded that Jesus suffered temptation just as we all do. And by the way, He suffered it from the same exact source as our temptations, the devil. And to make matters even more difficult for Lord Jesus, He had not eaten for forty days. When we are hungry we are weaker and more vulnerable. (When we fast for the Lord, we are weaker and in a more vulnerable state. The Lord sees our sacrifice for Him.) Jesus, at this moment, was in a more vulnerable state. He suffered temptation as we all do in life. Yes, our God does understand our problems and has faced many Himself. Call out to Him today to help you through difficult times you are going through. Jesus has been there, He understands, and He can help. He is just waiting for you to call out to Him. Don’t wait another moment and allow yourself deeper distress. Call out to Jesus!!

Lord, I call out to You to help me. You understand the difficulties I am dealing with today. Help me to overcome my weaknesses as You overcame them. You have been hungry. Lord, I hunger to have more of You in my life so that I can overcome all the difficulties I am facing with power of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You Lord for helping me! In Jesus name, Amen!!
