Prayer Guide and Devotional – February 3, 2024
Psalm 40:8
I delight to do Your will, my God;
Your Law is within my heart.”
All people should strongly desire to serve the Lord. After all, He created us. He gave us life and desires us to live it to the fullest. But, how do we actually serve the Lord? That really varies. Serving the Lord does not necessarily mean becoming a Pastor and delivering His word to a church. Or becoming a Deacon or Elder in a church. Yes, these are wonderful ways of serving God. But there are many other ways to serve the Lord. Once, in the FCFI tent, a lady was asked how those without food and clothing get their needs met. She answered “God will take care of them” and walked out of the tent. Yes, the Lord will take care of them. But how will He take care of them? He does so when we “serve the Lord” by going out and helping these people. When we bring food to someone hungry, when we get clothes for someone without clothes, when we hold the door open to help someone struggling to go through a doorway, when we cut someone’s grass who might have a hard time doing so, we are serving the Lord. Please, don’t think you are not serving the Lord because you do not hold a position within your church. It just might be that the mission field the Lord desires you to serve Him in is outside the walls of the church and out along the streets. And one of the driving forces in our desires to serve the Lord is because we carry the laws of God within our hearts. Serving the Lord. So easy, a kid can do it!
Lord, I desire to do Your will. Your law is written in my heart. Show me the way in which You would like me to serve. Regardless of my age or abilities I know You can use me. There are so many that need to see Your love. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
