Prayer Guide and Devotional – January 31, 2024
Genesis 11:5-7
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
It is amazing when you look at just the last 100 years or so, all the great inventions that man has orchestrated. Rockets to space, jet planes traveling around the world, cell phones you can call, email, and text from almost anywhere, televisions, microwave ovens, to bread makers! The future of man looks limitless. Back during the early time of man, everyone spoke the same language and they worked together. Man decided they were going to build a tower that would take them up to heaven. Wow!! What a thought. No other creation by God has that type of creative capabilities. Not birds, animals, fish, insects, or any other. Only man that was made in the Lord’s likeness and image. The Lord knew of this potential in man and decided it was time to “Nip it! Nip it in the bud!!” So, God came down to man and separated them and caused them to speak different languages. Throw in sin’s effect of man not trusting each other and the tower plans were cancelled. Man has so much potential. What if the focus of that potential was to develop a close relationship with God and to share Jesus Gospel message? Let the focus of every Christian be to make this world a world the Lord wants to come down and live with His family. Not a world He has to come down and smash man’s evil and wicked schemes. Let all men combine their focus and their energy to spread Jesus’ wonderful salvation message today!!
Lord, help me to focus on You to make this a world that You would be happy to live in. I want to bring others to You! May those creative powers that You have given us be used for Your Kingdom and not for the kingdom of man. We have wonderful potential within us to build great things. You tell us in Your Word that there is nothing impossible for us when we work together for Your causes. Let us work together to build Your Kingdom! Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!

Please pray for me. This is my son’s birth date. He died as the result of an accident many years ago… so this day is bittersweet!
