Prayer Guide and Devotional – June 24, 2023
Romans 4:5
But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,
Wow, I do not have to work anymore! That is not what this scripture is telling us. This has nothing to do with our jobs here on earth. It is about the belief some people have that they must earn their way to heaven. At this point God is telling us how Abraham, back in the Old Testament, did not obtain his righteousness in the eyes of God by earning it (by works) but by believing God and completely trusting Him. So do not even try to earn righteousness in the eyes of God. It will never happen. Jesus has done the work of salvation for the world on the cross. When we believe in Him (Jesus) and receive Him into our hearts and lives, we the ungodly, are now counted as righteous! It is a free gift from God. Now that we believe on Him, we do not have to work to gain righteousness, we only need to believe and we are deemed as righteous in God’s sight. Our main work now is to get closer to that God that took away our sins. If your heart has a strong desire to work, work to share the love of Jesus, work to share the Gospel of Lord Jesus and work to get closer to God!
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall receive salvation. That is what this verse promises us. If you have not done so yet, receive Jesus into your heart right now and instantly become part of the Lord’s family and righteous before God.
Pray that the workers in the field of winning souls will continue to work so that all will hear the good news and receive Jesus as their Savior.
