Prayer Guide and Devotional – January 2, 2024
John 1:1-2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
There are those people that refuse to believe in God. They especially resist believing in Lord Jesus. These people want to think they can get to heaven on their own behavior. They believe they can live life offending and rejecting God, and yet get to heaven. But, God’s Word tells us that Jesus was there with the Lord, actually part of God, from the very beginning. Jesus was there with God, and Jesus was there as God. Jesus, was with God, from the very beginning. Jesus is the living Word of God. With the free will the Lord gave us humans, we were destined to fall into sin. And this sin would continue to flourish in this world. And this sin would keep all of mankind from entering heaven due to our sins being offensive to God. So, as determined from the beginning, Jesus was to come down to earth and make amends to God for our sins. Jesus, there with God in the very beginning, came to earth and became the Living Word of God. Jesus, became man and lived and walked among us. He then bore the sins, the shame, and the dirt, of the world upon Himself with His death on the cross. Jesus, there with God in the very beginning, left His wonderful home in heaven to come down to this sin infested earth, to put God’s Word and love into action. When we reject Jesus, we are rejecting God. Yes, Lord Jesus truly is “The Word of God!”
Lord, Your ways are above our ways. And I cannot even imagine Your thoughts and the actions You take on behalf of each individual that walks the earth now, let alone from the beginning of this world. Thank You Lord for sending Jesus down among us to become Your Living Word and share with us Your thoughts and Your ways and Your desires. Please, help us all to live life according to Your standards and be sharers of Your Living Word with this world. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
