Prayer Guide and Devotional – December 18, 2023

Luke 1:41

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

When the angel of the Lord, Gabriel, had come to Mary, he told her about her relative also about to give birth. The amazing thing was, Mary’s relative, Elizabeth, was past child bearing years. And, Elizabeth had never given birth before in her entire life. Elizabeth was barren. The Lord used Elizabeth as a sign for Mary that what the angel was telling Mary was the truth. Mary got her things together and went to visit Elizabeth. Just how special was the child that Mary was carrying? Elizabeth’s child in her womb leaped inside of her when Mary walked up. The Holy Spirit filled Elizabeth at that very moment and the child Elizabeth was carrying sensed the Spirit of the Lord surrounding the child Mary was carrying. Elizabeth’s child, still in her womb, recognized the greatness of that unseen child that was before him. He could not see Jesus, but the Spirit of the Lord impressed upon that yet unborn little boy, just how great and awesome the child was that Mary was carrying. That was a true God thing!! 

Lord, help me to recognize when You are working a mighty thing before me. Help me to always see Your hand at work here on earth. I am sure You are working miracles in peoples lives everyday. Help me to also see those miracles and to be one to shout praises to Your Holy Name each time a miracle occurs. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
