Prayer Guide and Devotional – November 27, 2023
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
So many things can have a direct affect on our lives. Sometimes it is things we do not realize has the potential to affect us. These outside influences affect how we act, how we dress, how we think, and even how we talk. You could say, put dirt into your heart and mind and dirt will come out of you. Put clean and pure into your heart and mind, and clean and pure will come out of you. This is what the Apostle Paul is writing about. As Christians we are to embody the Christ as we go about our lives every day. But if we are allowing sin into our hearts and minds, we are going to show actions and words and behavior contrary to all that Jesus stands for. We MUST make sure none of this ungodliness gets into us. Paul says dwell on the truth of Jesus, think noble thoughts, do what is right, live a pure life, be a lovely inspiration for Jesus, and maintain an excellent and praiseworthy attitude towards God. These are the things we are to let into our hearts and minds so we can live a life worthy of being an adopted child of the Living and Almighty God!
Lord, there are so many things that satan throws in my path each day to disrupt my life with You. From garbage movies, books, music, TV shows, and even the language of so many people around me. Please, let Your Holy Spirit guide and protect my heart and mind and spirit and let only the clean and pure of this world into my heart. May my words and my thoughts and my meditations be pleasing to You! Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
