John 21:21-22
So Peter, upon seeing him, said to Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!”
Peter and John were walking with Jesus. Jesus was telling Peter a little about how Peter would serve the Lord and finished His statement with “Follow Me.” Peter looked at John and asked Jesus about him. Sometimes we want to know about other people’s lives. Peter, after hearing about how he would serve Jesus, now wanted to know how John would serve Jesus. Jesus said to Peter “What is that to you.” Jesus wanted Peter to keep his focus on Jesus and not other people. Jesus wants this of all of us. He wants our focus to be on our relationship with God. As we focus on God we will get closer to Him. In getting closer to God we will serve Him even greater. Don’t let your focus be taken from the Lord. There are many things in this world that may do this. From our work, to our families, to our hobbies, and even to the ministry we were placed in by the Lord. Yes, we can be so focused on the ministry that we take our attention off of God. As that old wonderful hymn says “Turn your eyes upon Jesus! Look full in His wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace”.
Lord, I am so blessed with the relationship I have with You. Please, help me to keep my focus always on You. Don’t let the things of this world get in between us or take my focus off of You. You are all I need in this life. I just want to get closer to You each and every minute of every day. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
