Prayer Guide and Devotional – November 10, 2023
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
We sit down and read our Bibles in the comfort of our homes. Maybe on a nice couch or a recliner with our feet up. It is so nice to sit and read and relax. We often do not realize how active God’s Word is. Though we are sitting and relaxing, God’s Word is very busy in our lives and the lives of people all over the world. His Word is not just ink on a piece of paper. God’s word is alive!! It reaches down into the very deepest part of our mind, soul, body, and spirit.And the Lord even tells us this Word is so sharp and so biting because it will often go against what we think is right and how we think we can act towards others. His Word can often be at odds with how we want to live our lives. Yes, God’s Word will often cut us with the sharp edge of His truth. And this sword of the Lord’s is not just single sided cutting just one side as it enters. It is a double edged sword cutting from both sides. A sword that can go so deep into who and what we are so as to divide our spirit and our soul. And if that were not enough, God’s Word is able to judge our thoughts (picture a judge from a bench staring at you as you have thoughts and knowing them all) and the intentions of our hearts (how often will the deep down intentions in our hearts go against what the Lord says). That book in your hands, the ink on those pages, are so very active and alive and is there to help us live our lives as one with the Lord and to follow His every desire. As you read your Bible ask the Lord to allow you to feel His presence inside of you!!
Lord, I know every word of the Bible is there for a specific reason. It is there to guide us and to help us grow closer to You as we build up our faith. It is there to help me live life as one with You. My Lord, dig as deep as You say is necessary within me and clean out all that goes against You. I thank You for feeling I am so important to You that You want to help guide my every step, my every thought, and my every word. Thank You Lord! In Jesus name, Amen!!
