Prayer Guide and Devotional – October 17, 2023
Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
About 12 years ago I worked at a warehouse. There was the main man in the Receiving department. He had no title and he had no authority but he handled the Receiving duties. The warehouse manager took him aside and told him he was officially promoted to Receiving Manager. The warehouse manager told him they were not announcing anything to everybody but he could handle it how he would like. The man had a title but he had no authority. The company was not letting the employees know they had given this man a position and authority so nobody accepted his power. Look at the Bible verses above. Jesus is announcing He has authority both in heaven and on earth. The Lord is announcing He has power and that He has been authorized to make these decisions. And what a major decision. We are authorized by Jesus to carry His salvation message to the world!! We do not have to announce it ourselves. God’s Holy Spirit goes both before us and with us announcing and proving that Godly authority. We are authorized by God to make disciples, to baptize in the name of the Lord, and to teach the world about Jesus. A Godly responsibility with a Godly Authorization. And with this authority and responsibility Jesus is coming along with us. “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen!!! Don’t worry about anything. We have the Lord’s authority and the boss is with us.
Lord, I thank you for Your love and You having such amazing and powerful authority from God. As Your followers go around the world preaching Lord Jesus and His cross crucified go before us with Your authority so ears and hearts will be open to receiving You into their hearts and lives!!
