Prayer Guide and Devotional – October 13, 2023
1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
Just exactly, who are the Saints?? Some believe they are a select few people that have shown a strong Christian walk. But, God’s Word tells us something else. God tells us that every person that has received Jesus into their hearts and lives, is a Saint! Here Paul was writing to the followers of Lord Jesus in Corinth. He tells them that when they received Jesus as their personal Savior they were at that very moment, sanctified (set apart from the world), to serve the Lord. And he says this is all followers of Jesus because he says that all people, no matter where they are, if they have called on the name of Jesus for the washing away of their sins, they are called to be saints. Through my teens and 20’s, when I would do something nice for someone and someone else witnessing it would complain I was being too nice, I would just tell them I had my bid in for saint hood. It was many years later after receiving Jesus into my heart that I realized, mission accomplished!! Have you received Jesus into your heart and life? If so, you are set apart for service to the Lord and you are a saint!! Way to go brothers and sisters. Mission accomplished!!
Lord, sometimes the world has different ideas from Yours about what different things are, such as who is a saint and who is not. Please, let my heart be open to and led by Your Word and Your instruction alone for my life so I will always know the absolute truth, Your truth, and will not be deceived by the world!! Lord, help me to grow in the knowledge of Your truth and share it with the world.
