Prayer Guide and Devotional

P

Matthew 5:48

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

I remember receiving a Bible in my younger years and reading this verse. I did not read any further. I thought to myself, this is impossible, no one can be perfect. There is no sense in reading any further, this is an impossible task. No sense in learning any more. I did not understand what the Lord is really saying in this verse. We receive the very Spirit of God which is perfect. The Lord does not expect us to be perfectly good people, but that we are made perfect in God’s eyes by the washing away of our sins by Jesus on the cross. And when you read this, it states, you shall be perfect! How is this possible? It is possible because of the Blood of Jesus. We are perfect because His Spirit is in us and He is perfect. It has nothing to do with us. It is all about Jesus.Have you taken the time to ask this perfect Spirit to control your life? If you have asked, then you are perfect (note that is not me saying that, but the Lord Himself – read again the verse above).

Lord, thank You that You have made me perfect. It is not because of anything I have done, but because of what You have done for me. Thank You Jesus!
