Prayer Guide and Devotional – September 20, 2023
Luke 14:26
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.
Now wait a minute! Isn’t this the same God that states honor your father and mother? Yes it is. But yet here He is saying hate your family and yourself! Many people would gather to hear Jesus speak. They would gather to see His miracles. And they would gather for the free meals. But, when it came to following Him and all He states, they would back away. They did not want to give up their worldly life to live a life of truly following Jesus. Jesus is telling all of us that to truly follow Him we must look past all the worldly interests and interference’s and devote ourselves completely to Him. Like the man above, he has his backpack behind him and a long road in front. We all must make that commitment. As brothers and sisters in Lord Jesus, let us encourage each other to give up that which gets in the way of our service to the Lord. Yes, it can be hard. But the rewards are heavenly!!
Lord, I want to be devoted to you. I know there are so many things in this life that can pull me away from You. Please, give me the strength to resist any temptations and the strength to remain true to You all my life!

Prayer request for Tommy Massey.
He has survived throat cancer but has scar tissue and will have to have a Tracheostomy Tube for the surgery. He is mid 70s and in good health otherwise!!!
