North Carolina Hay Disaster Relief Delivery Days: A Story of Dedication and Community Support

This heartwarming story was originally shared on the Civilian Disaster Response Organization Facebook page, highlighting the incredible efforts of CP Foster and his loyal co-pilot, John Dog Wayne—affectionately known as Dog.

CP and Dog set out from Pennsylvania with a truckload of square bales, determined to support farmers and homesteaders in need. They arrived to a warm welcome from a group of eager farmers and horse owners. Despite the unexpected rain, everyone worked together to get the trucks and trailers loaded and securely tarped. Demonstrating true community spirit, CP and Dog stayed overnight before heading back to Pennsylvania.

Their dedication didn’t stop there. They reloaded in Pennsylvania and were back with another delivery soon after. Once again, farmers, horse owners, and homesteaders eagerly awaited their arrival. This time, the weather was on their side, making it easier to load the trucks, trailers, and U-Hauls efficiently.

Throughout these Hay Days, CP took time to chat with the farmers, listening to their stories and understanding their ongoing need for hay and support. His unwavering commitment to helping Western North Carolina (WNC) was evident, and the gratitude from the community was palpable.

While the bustling activity often jams up the intersections with trucks and convoys, the atmosphere remains lively and filled with camaraderie. CP humbly describes the events as “well-organized,” though those on the ground often laugh at the controlled chaos. Regardless, these moments of connection and cooperation are cherished by all.

The community eagerly anticipates CP and Dog’s return, knowing that their efforts make a significant difference. Words truly cannot express the depth of appreciation felt for their dedication and hard work. Hay Days may be a bit chaotic, but they are a testament to the power of community and the impact of selfless individuals like CP Foster and Dog.
