Lives Touched at the South Dakota State Convention – by John and Eileen Fethkenher

Eileen and I recently had the privilege of attending the South Dakota State Convention, and it was truly an encouraging and meaningful experience. Throughout the event, we were blessed to spend time with many teenagers who were incredibly hungry, open, and receptive to hearing the Gospel message.

It was inspiring to see so many young people eager to listen, ask questions, and engage in conversations about faith. In a time when many wonder how the next generation is responding spiritually, this convention served as a powerful reminder that God is still moving in the hearts of young people.

We were also thankful that Marlin joined us during the convention and helped share the Gospel with students throughout the event. His support and willingness to minister alongside us made the outreach even more impactful.

One especially memorable moment stood out during the convention. I had the opportunity to pray with a young girl as she made the decision to receive Christ into her life. About an hour later, she returned, this time bringing a young man with her.

She said to me, “Tell him about the bracelet.”

I responded, “Didn’t you already tell him?”

She smiled and replied, “No, I want you to show him.”

Using the salvation bracelet as a simple tool to explain the message of salvation, I shared the Gospel with the young man. As he listened, he responded with humility and sincerity, eventually praying to invite Jesus into his life as well.

Moments like these remind us why outreach and discipleship matter so deeply. Sometimes one transformed life becomes the bridge for another person to encounter Christ. It was encouraging to witness this young girl immediately wanting someone else to hear the same message that had just impacted her own heart.

Eileen and I are deeply grateful and thankful to FOCF for allowing us the opportunity to serve alongside such an amazing organization. We truly appreciate your continued support, partnership, and commitment to reaching people with the love and hope of Christ.

Please continue to pray for the young people who attended the convention — that the seeds planted in their hearts will continue to grow and bear lasting fruit in their lives.
