Join FCFI in Bringing Hope to Hurricane Helene Survivors

More than two years after Hurricane Helene devastated communities in Western North Carolina, many families are still working to rebuild their homes and restore a sense of normalcy. This September, Fellowship of Christian Farmers International (FCFI) will once again answer the call to serve through a week-long disaster relief mission in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.

From September 13–19, 2026, a team of FCFI volunteers will partner with Baptists on Mission to assist homeowners with rebuilding projects while demonstrating Christ’s love through compassionate service.

Serving Where the Need Remains

Although headlines have faded, the need continues.

Many residents of Spruce Pine are still recovering from the widespread destruction left behind by Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Homes remain in need of repairs, and families continue to depend on volunteers willing to lend their hands and hearts.

Whether it’s repairing homes, encouraging homeowners, or simply offering a listening ear, every act of service becomes an opportunity to share God’s love in practical ways.

Mission Trip Details

Volunteers will serve from September 13–19, 2026, with travel beginning on Saturday, September 12.

Those traveling from the Northeast will meet at Redeeming Love Fellowship Church in Stittville, New York, departing around 7:00 a.m. After an overnight stay at Ridgeway Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the team will continue to Spruce Pine, arriving Sunday evening. Volunteers traveling from other regions are encouraged to arrive in Spruce Pine on Sunday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.

Lodging and meals will be provided throughout the week while serving alongside Baptists on Mission at the Spruce Pine Rebuild Center.

Preparing to Serve

To ensure a safe and well-organized mission experience, volunteers are asked to complete all required registration forms before arriving.

Adult participants (18 years and older) must have a completed background check before staying overnight at the work site. Those who have completed a recent background check through a church or another approved organization may use that documentation.

Volunteers should also bring personal sleeping gear, including a sleeping bag, air mattress, and pillow. Limited equipment is available for those who may need to borrow these items.

More Than Rebuilding Homes

Disaster relief is about far more than construction projects.

Each repaired roof, rebuilt wall, or restored home becomes a tangible reminder that people have not been forgotten. Through every conversation, prayer, and act of kindness, volunteers have the opportunity to reflect Christ’s compassion and bring encouragement to families facing difficult circumstances.

Serving together also strengthens fellowship among team members as they work side by side to make a lasting difference.
