Indiana FFA Convention at Purdue

FCFI Executive Director Dennis Schlagel meets with a couple of Indiana FFA students

The Indiana State FFA Convention was held on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana from June 19-27, 2023.  It was the Fellowship of Christian Farmers first visit to the Indiana State FFA Convention, and details were sketchy as where we were supposed to set up.  We ended up in a perfect spot under some shade trees, right next to the US Army and Indiana Air National Guard tents.

It was great to visit with some of the FFA kids that worked in and around Sullivan picking up debris from the EF-4 tornado that ripped through the Sullivan area.  We were working right near a house, no longer there, where a man died in the storm and his wife was critically injured.

It was a beautiful but very warm day on the Purdue campus.  Fortunately, our tent was situated in a nice, shady spot along the main walkway for the FFA kids.  There were times where foot traffic was slow, because they had meetings and workshops to attend.  So it was nice being next to our military friends from the army and air national guard.  The army representative had served multiple tours in Afganistan.  The Air National Guard reps talked about their base, serving the duties of the A-10 Thunderbolt II, affectionally referred to as the “Warthog.”

One of the benefits of having our tent set up on a college campus, besides meeting with FFA members, is also meeting with college students.  There weren’t many, but summer school was in session, so we were able to meet with college students and new potential students and their parents.  This was our first FFA Convention in Indiana.  We have now attended 25 State FFA Conventions, presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to hundereds and even thousands of Future Farmers of America.  Lord willing, Wyoming will be number 26 and Minnesota 27.

Please pray that our reach will continue to grow from coast to coast, and everywhere in between.  Pray that workers will be readily available to present the Gospel, on the ground for the greatest revival in American history.  Thank you for your support!
